Introduction to the ProPilot X “Year of the Snake”
As Oris nears the grand finale of its 120th anniversary celebration in 2024, the venerable Swiss watchmaker is turning its attention to the anticipated Chinese New Year, set for January 29, 2025.
In this spirit, Oris has launched the ProPilot X “Year of the Snake” Limited Edition, marking one of its first introductions for the upcoming year.
This modern twist on the classic pilot watch is limited to just 88 pieces, and it’s powered by the remarkable ProPilot X Calibre 115, which boasts an impressive ten-day power reserve alongside a unique non-linear power reserve indicator.
Design Features and Inspiration
The watch’s design is inspired by the vibrant hues commonly associated with the snake, a prominent figure in the Chinese zodiac.
Featuring a skeletonized dial, the ProPilot X offers a stunning view of its intricate hand-wound movement, accentuated with striking cyan highlights that amplify its dynamic feel.
The power reserve indicator, designed in the same eye-catching cyan, is gracefully positioned on the right side of the dial.
Its elegantly curved hand mimics the form of a snake, effectively tracking the status of the mainspring.
Additionally, a small seconds subdial resides artfully between the 7 and 8 o’clock positions, revealing fascinating details of the movement, including a generous barrel and beautifully skeletonized bridges.
For those low-light moments, the hour and minute hands, along with the indices, are treated with SuperLuminova, ensuring optimal visibility.
Specifications and Availability
Housed in a sleek 44mm titanium case, the Calibre 115 not only provides a sporty appearance but is also water-resistant up to 100 meters.
The knurled bezel complements the watch’s adventurous character.
Flip the timepiece over, and you’ll find a sapphire case back that showcases the meticulous craftsmanship and technical brilliance of the Calibre 115.
The ProPilot X “Year of the Snake” Limited Edition comes with a durable titanium bracelet and a secure folding clasp, carrying a price tag of CHF 8,200, which translates to roughly $9,200 USD.
Fans can look forward to its availability beginning December 2024.
