Breguet Classique 7145 for the Lunar New Year 2025

As we approach the Lunar New Year on January 29, 2025, which marks the Year of the Snake, Breguet has introduced the stunning Classique 7145 timepiece.

This exclusive model showcases the brand’s dedication to craftsmanship, featuring thoughtfully hand-engraved and guilloché details that depict a serpent enshrined in verdant foliage.

Limited to just eight pieces, the Classique 7145 is housed in a 40mm rose gold case, powered by a remarkably slender automatic movement.

The dial, made from gold, prominently displays a snake in bas-relief, skillfully brought to life by Breguet’s artisans using chisels and burins under magnification.

This meticulous engraving captures rich textures, elevating the dial to an art form in itself.

Heritage and Craftsmanship

In a tribute to Breguet’s heritage, the art of guilloché—first pioneered by Abraham-Louis Breguet in 1786—continues to flourish in the brand’s Vallée de Joux workshops.

Here, a collection of 30 historic guilloché machines is operated by skilled engravers, creating intricate patterns that imbue the dial with a sense of depth.

To further enhance its appeal, the snake’s scales and its botanical surroundings are highlighted with black galvanic treatments, while translucent green hues are painted delicately onto the leaves.

Breguet’s signature design elements, including the secret signature and the open-tipped hands, remain prominent.

Instead of conventional hour markers, the watch opts for understated rose gold dots that subtly indicate the time, allowing the exquisite artistry to shine through.

With a graceful profile, the 40mm rose gold case measures a mere 6.5mm in thickness, featuring elegantly straight lugs that are hand-soldered and a beautifully fluted caseband.

Technical Specifications

Turning the watch over reveals the sophisticated calibre 502.3, recognized for its impressive slimness at just 2.4mm.

This automatic movement, which dates back to the 1960s, boasts a 22k gold rotor adorned with a guilloché barleycorn pattern, all hand-engraved.

Featuring an openworked barrel, it provides a generous power reserve of 45 hours and operates at a frequency of 3Hz, enhanced by a flat silicon balance spring designed to reduce sensitivity to magnetic interference.

Each of the Classique 7145 watches for the Lunar New Year 2025 is a limited-edition masterpiece, with only eight pieces available.

Each timepiece comes with a green alligator leather strap secured by a rose gold pin buckle, retailing at CHF 69,000, which is roughly EUR 80,900.
