Grand Seiko has elevated its Heritage Collection with the launch of two stunning new timepieces, showcasing the impressive Hi-Beat 36000 Caliber 9S85.
These elegant three-hand watches are crafted from Ever-Brilliant Steel, a unique alloy created by the brand that not only enhances durability but also adds to their visual appeal.
Celebrating the shifting seasons in Japan, the new models feature dials that beautifully reflect the country’s dynamic landscapes throughout the year.
Heritage Collection and Design Inspiration
Since debuting in 2019, Grand Seiko’s Heritage Collection has delighted watch enthusiasts with pieces that embody the timeless design elements introduced with the 62GS model in 1967.
This iconic watch marked a significant milestone as the brand’s first self-winding timepiece.
With its innovative bezel-less case and exceptional Zaratsu polishing, the 62GS carved out a prestigious place in Grand Seiko history.
The latest quartet of watches draws inspiration from Japan’s 24 Sekki, the traditional seasonal periods, highlighting the brand’s deep connection to its cultural roots.
Seasonal Themed Releases
The new releases explore two key seasonal transitions: Rikka, which symbolizes the arrival of summer from spring, and Shūbun, corresponding to the autumn equinox.
Both models benefit from the advantages of Ever-Brilliant Steel, celebrated for its robust resistance to rust and corrosion.
Their brilliant shine is brought to life through the renowned Zaratsu polishing method, enhancing the watches’ contours and finishes.
Each timepiece comes in a well-proportioned 40 mm case and is just 12.9 mm thick.
True to Grand Seiko’s standards, they offer water resistance up to 100 meters and can withstand magnetic fields of up to 4,800 A/m.
Captivating Dial Designs
Each Grand Seiko watch tells a story through its captivating dial design, inspired by Japan’s rich natural beauty and cultural heritage.
The SBGH351, representing Rikka, boasts a lively green dial that captures the essence of nature in full bloom during this vibrant time of year.
In contrast, the SBGH353 embodies Shūbun, featuring a deep blue dial that evokes the serene beauty of a moonlit autumn evening.
With golden accents on the GS logo and second hand, it symbolizes the gentle glow of moonlight.
Both models also include a date display located at the 3 o’clock position.
Powering these exquisite timepieces is the advanced Hi-Beat 36000 Caliber 9S85, known for its impressive 55-hour power reserve and remarkable accuracy, typically ranging from +5 to -3 seconds daily.
Watch aficionados will appreciate the intricate craftsmanship visible through the transparent screw-down case back.
With a retail price of $7,200, these stunning watches are set to hit the market in February 2025.
