As we near the end of the year, now seems like the perfect time to take a moment and reflect on the incredible array of watches that debuted in 2024.

For horology enthusiasts, each new release is a vivid reminder of the industry’s liveliness and the enduring love for this art.

Within this vibrant community, opinions can be quite diverse—certain watches earn high praise, while others might not find as much favor.

The team at aBlogtoWatch feels this dynamic, and as we sift through the year’s creations, some timepieces stand out particularly to us.

While choosing just one favorite from such a rich selection is a daunting task, we’d like to share our top picks for the year.

Ariel Adams – Hublot MP-10 Tourbillon

Choosing a single standout watch can be a tricky proposition for someone from aBlogtoWatch.

However, the Hublot MP-10 Tourbillon, released in January 2024, has truly captivated my imagination.

This watch is extraordinary, thanks to its cutting-edge design and forward-thinking concept.

What sets it apart is that it draws exclusively from the innovative visions of contemporary Swiss micro-mechanical engineers, rather than leaning on past styles.

Ripley Sellers – A. Lange & Söhne Datograph Perpetual Tourbillon Honeygold “Lumen”

If I had the luxury of a blank check to snag any new watch—never to be sold, of course—I’d be hard-pressed to resist the A. Lange & Söhne Datograph Perpetual Tourbillon Honeygold “Lumen,” which debuted at Watches & Wonders Geneva 2024.

This stunning piece would hold immense value in my collection and certainly represents my top choice for the year.

Jake Witkin – Breitling Chronomat B01 42 NFL Buffalo Bills Edition

The path of a watch collector can be quite the rollercoaster, filled with moments of thrill and fatigue.

This year, I felt that fluctuating intensity more than ever.

My favorite timepiece has to be the Breitling Chronomat B01 42 NFL Buffalo Bills Edition.

Despite being a limited release, there are enough pieces out there for eager fans.

Plus, I admire how the brand adds a sense of fun to its offerings.

When weighing this year’s best releases, it’s easy to be swayed by extravagant, high-end pieces.

Yet, the Venezianico Redentore Bellanotte, priced around $700, truly stole my heart.

This remarkable watch defies the stereotype that only luxury brands can craft stunning dials and intricate details.

Some of the more interesting releases this year came in the form of seven “Incredibly Specialized” Seiko models.

Each one is designed with a unique function in mind, which makes them impractical as everyday wear.

Seiko’s inventive spirit and the quirky essence of these watches continue to captivate and maintain my interest months later.

My personal favorite this year is undoubtedly the TAG Heuer Monaco Split-Seconds Chronograph.

The recent production model brings noteworthy upgrades, marking it as a standout piece within the brand’s impressive collection.

In my eyes, the Piaget Polo 79 deserves the title of the best watch release of 2024.

It epitomizes luxury in its solid 18-karat yellow gold format, and the intricate gadrooning exemplifies the richness and depth that gold can bring to watchmaking.

As we wrap up our thoughts on this year’s exciting watch releases, we invite you to share your favorites from 2024 and let us know what you hope to see in 2025!
