Graham Winthrope

Graham Winthrope was born in Bath, England. His fascination with timepieces began when he inherited his grandfather's 1940s Jaeger-LeCoultre at age twelve. After completing his secondary education at Winchester College, he studied Art History at Cambridge, followed by specialized training in horology at the British School of Watchmaking in Manchester. Winthrope cut his teeth at auction houses in London, where he spent five years authenticating vintage watches. He then moved to Geneva, working as a restoration specialist for three years. His reputation for spotting intricate forgeries led to consulting work with insurance companies and private collectors. Now based in New York, he edits WatchVibes while maintaining a small, appointment-only restoration workshop in Brooklyn. He's particularly known for his expertise in rare military timepieces from both World Wars..
